WHO AM I?

I was originally born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee.  In Knoxville, however, I attended the University of Tennessee and received the majority of my education.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree along with a Master’s degree in Secondary Education.  In addition, I also have a minor in both geography and Teacher Education.  I have resided in Scott County for the last ten years.  I enjoy spending my free time traversing the great outdoors (weather permitting of course).

Overview

This year in Geography class your child

will become much more knowledgeable

about the world in which he or she lives.

We will not only be examining the “where”

of various localities (countries, cities,

landforms…), but also their  respective

governances, cultures, and economies.

Among other things, each student will walk

away from this course having an acute sense

of their surroundings, whether at home

or abroad.

Grading Scale

The only material your child will need to purchase for this class will be a GREEN folder.  You can either buy one at the OMS office, or any other available retail outlet.  Your child’s grade for each of the nine weeks period will be determined by their weekly journal writings (20%), tests (40%), and daily assignments/quizzes (40%).  After Christmas break, the students will work on one major project for about a week and a half that will account for one test grade.  The project involves students working together in order to create their own version of the “Great Wall of China”.
