Text Box: Principal’s Message

Our school year is off to a good start. Everyone is working hard, and I hope your child will have a successful year.

I have a couple of concerns that need to be addressed. Parents and visitors must sign in at the office when visiting the school. All students that drive to school must park in their designated spot and have their parking permit displayed in their vehicle. We will be checking the parking lot periodically throughout the school year.

Please come out and support our football team, girls’ soccer team, golf team, cheerleaders, and band during the fall. If we can be of any help to you, please contact us.
Text Box: Meet the new Choral Director
After settling down from such a busy start to our new year, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jessica (Baskin) Newport, and I am the new OMS music teacher and OHS Choral Director. Although I am from Dallas, Texas, I moved to Tennessee and graduated from Sunbright High School, just down the road. I attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia. I majored in Music Performance with an emphasis on Voice and obtained both my TN and VA teacher’s licensure. After graduation, I returned to Sunbright to teach their K-12 music program, bands, and choir. I currently live in Sunbright with my husband, Curtis, and give private lessons in voice, violin, and piano at my home. I am very excited about teaching in Oneida and have been warmly welcomed by everyone here.
Text Box: A Great Beginning to a Great School Year
Text Box: From the Desk of Mrs. Miller
Text Box: This year has gotten off to a great start, and we want to continue to communicate with you throughout the year. With this in mind, we would like to invite all of our parents to a special presentation by the Oneida Police Department on September 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the OHS gym. The presentation, which will last about 30 to 45 minutes, will address the legalities involved in cyber-bullying and the misuse of other electronic devices such as cell phones and Ipods. Please come and join us for the presentation. We will be available to answer questions and or conference with you if needed. Refreshments will be served.
On a lighter note, we also want to inform you that midterm Text Box: progress reports will be sent out through e-mail by the week of September 14. If you did not have an e-mail listed on your student’s information sheet, your child will receive a hard copy of the progress report. If you do not receive a report, please call our office so that we can update your information and correct the problem. As always, we want to encourage you to inquire about your child’s progress so that we can work together. If you have any questions, please feel free to call my office at 569-9292.
		Sincerely,

		Melinda Miller
