1st 9 Weeks
Project
Directions:
The
Outside (20 points)
Choose
any container for your book project.
You may choose any container that suits your needs or theme of your
book. (Examples: manila envelope, paper bag, plastic bag, can
with a cover, or box.) Decorate the
container with details appropriate to the book. We should know something about the book by examining the
outside. Be sure your name and title of
book are labeled on the outside.
The
Inside (75 points)
The
inside of the container should include the following materials.
1.
Questions-Write
15 questions that could be answered by reading the book. (15 points)
2.
Vocabulary-A
ten word glossary of unfamiliar words from the book and a short definition for
each word should be included here. Each
work needs to be used in a new meaningful sentence. (20 points)
3.
Other-Five
items that depict the story in some way.
These items may be actual items.
4.
Literature
Elements-You must write 3 sentences about each of the following: the setting of the book and the characters
in the book. (10 points)
5.
You
must write 3 paragraphs about the plot of the story. Remember to include what happened in the beginning, the middle,
and the end. (20 points)
Presentation:
Students
will present their book in a container project to the class. They will explain the following: why they decorated their container as they
did, the five items and how they relate to their story, the setting of their
book (the time and place), and the characters in the book.
2nd 9 Weeks
Project
During this 9 weeks, the students will have a choice of projects. They may complete a science fair project, or they may complete an alternative project. Below are the directions for both of these projects.

REMINDERS:
1.
Reports
are due on time. Twenty points will be
subtracted for each day you are late.
2.
You
may use note cards, but do not read your report directly from your cards.
3.
Do
not chew gum or eat candy while giving your presentation.
4.
Do
not speak softly.
5.
Do
not use and and-ah so so stuff you know while giving your report.
6.
Do
practice your report several times at home.
7.
Do
use your own words.
